MIDDLE SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP
Ott Consulting Inc. [OCI] is pleased to announce the firm has been appointed as Middle Smithfield Township’s Sewer Enforcement Officer [SEO]. Middle Smithfield Township is located in Monroe County, PA, with a total area of approximately 55 square miles. The Township’s vast open space and woodlands is typical of the Pocono Region’s bucolic countryside.
As SEO, it will be OCI’s responsibility to issue permits and inspect the construction of on-lot sewage disposal systems. OCI will serve as the Township representative, guiding and informing residents and businesses about sewage disposal options and the procedure for construction. In addition, OCI will also review and approve septic systems for large scale development.
BROWNFIELD REDEVELOPMENT FOR EMMAUS
Ott Consulting Inc. has recently received zoning approval for redevelopment of the number one blighted brownfield property in Emmaus. OCI received rezoning approval for the 8 acre site and a special exception to allow 3 story apartments consisting of 24 units per building and a total of 144 units. The site development will include parking, landscaping and other amenities to enhance the overall development.
Currently the project is going through the Land Development Approval Process and NPDES Permitting. In addition, the project is moving forward through the Act 2 Land Recycling Program and OCI expects to work closely with PADEP to remediate the site. When completed, the project will eliminate an unsightly and unsafe area with new housing in an enhanced landscape setting.
LEHIGH VALLEY DAIRY
Ott Consulting Inc. has been retained by the Elias Property Group to study the reuse options for the former Lehigh Valley Dairy site located in Whitehall’s southern boundary with Allentown. The existing building, once a silk mill converted to a dairy in 1934, has remained abandoned for over 25 years.
Working closely with the Elias Family, OCI will be responsible for exploring potential reuse options for the property. In addition, OCI will be responsible for an analysis of existing site conditions, and will address numerous issues as part of the overall planning process.
